5 years anniversary !

Since September 2005, the "marché BeauBeau" comes back by surprise to color the city: as it is harder and harder for the creators of all kinds to distribute their objects without loosing their shirt, here they come, gathered by dozens. In a neat atmosphere, they are present onsite and distribute rock'n'roll embroideries, colored fanzines, vintage crochet, trendy fashion design, chic accessories, intimate comics, zingy design, extravagant stuffed animals, etc etc.

After having been located at place Sainte-Catherine, the Halles Saint-Géry & the Pathé Palace, the palace that will be welcoming you for the second time is simply… la Place Royale ! Really? Yes really! It will be in the outside, in what we call the "La Cour d'Honneur" (part of the BIP, touristic information center of the Brussels region). And, since you are curious, we give you some hints: 75 creators innovating in their own field (out of 200 applications), 3500 creations, bar, cakes & musika and, every other day, bicycles everywhere…

All around BeauBeau

This weekend of party hasn't been chosen by chance: during the "Sunday without cars", you will be able to travel to the marché BeauBeau without traffic jams …. And no matter where you will be coming from, be aware that some creators will have covered many kilometers to join the marché: the small edition that has a hard time distributiong itself is present in Brussels, Anvers, Gand, Paris, Lille, Marseille as well as in London – BeauBeau is for example partner with the market "Fais-le toi-même" which will be taking place in Lille a week after the marché BeauBeau!

Don't have to be bobo to be BeauBeau

Despite these festivities , let's not forget that the marché BeauBeau tries to solve an absurdity:
the production is much, but the visibility and the spaces where creators can distribute their creations are fainting. All creators are thus gathered according to three critera…

They produce handmade objects and/or produced in limited edition;
they innovate in their own field;
they lack of distribution.

If all creators are present, it is not only to show that the creativity is much in Brussels, but also to offer creations at accessible prices (where the increasing rents prevent from owning a shop, and where outleting forces them to sell at prices that only a rich elite can afford).
The marché BeauBeau is thus a non-profit association, with a team composed by unpaid volunteers. As it doesn't take any commission on the creators' sales, it allows them to sell at prices that respect themselves as well as the visitors. Rather than making an apology of the Bobo-becoming every day life, BeauBeau tries to provide an ironic response that who sound like this : Beauty must be accessible to everyone : start by looking around you – and make it yourself!
